  1. I’m sure this has been asked before, but what about a legitimate Democratic Socialist political party? This is something I am interested in pursuing.

  2. The Activist,

On November 2, thousands of people went on a strike in Oakland, Calif. and shut down the fifth busiest container port in the United States, the Port of Oakland. Before Wednesday, there hadn’t been a general strike in Oakland since 1946.

After having their daily 7 p.m. general assembly, eight Occupiers from Humboldt County, Calif. compiled their belongings, drove down to Oakland and marched in solidarity among tens of thousands.

I am pitching to you a first-hand account of November 2 and the journey the Humboldt Occupiers experienced. I traveled with the Humboldt Occupiers and was in Oakland interviewing people from 6:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. Wednesday.

I have quotes from a variety of people such as Oakland Education Association member and teacher Margaret Yang, Interfaith Coalition Minister Jeremy Nickel, self-employed therapist Laura Parker, Santa Barbara Occupier Carlos Martinez and political activist Angela Davis.

Professional photographer and Humboldt Occupier Travis Turner was one of the eight members that attended the National Strike. He photographed the event and marches and has photos to attach with my article.

This story is a representation of our current time. Over 2,000 cities globally have been occupied and hundreds of thousands of people are occupying spaces around the world. These numbers grow each day, as more and more people demand information about these crucial times.

Please let me know if you are interested in this story about our current times. If you would like more information about articles I have published please feel free to visit my website: http://www.ashley-ward.org.

Thank you for your time and I look forward to hearing from you.
