As this is the scheme of US politics all around the world I’m really surprised about the astonishment. Do people

really go around blindfolded or do they just not care what is going on in third-world countries? And when

disaster strikes they spend some money to soothe their conscience? We all should be ashamed to

let it happen. Wake up and help honest leaders to clear out greedy bankers and industrialists, and the world will

recover. By the way, I am not religious and no communist, just a person with compassion.

Thanks for writing this–I had been thinking of writing something similar, and you beat me to it. But I second Jenny’s comment, and I would add this: it wasn’t just “the Bushes”, Bill Clinton’s administration played at least as central a role in undermining Haitian democracy and popular movements in favor of corrupt neoliberalism, setting the stage for the devastation we see now.
